RSS Feeds

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a web format used to publish "feeds" of frequently-updated content, such as news headlines, blog entries, etc. People can use feed readers or other RSS software to keep up with current content automatically. Ragtag has several RSS feeds that you might find useful:

  • Showing today at Ragtag lists films and events that are showing on the current date, along with the day's showtimes. Click the linked film (or event) title to jump to that item's detailed listing on the films or events pages.
  • Showing next 7 days at Ragtag lists all films and events that have showings within 7 days of the current date. All showtimes are listed for each film or event.
  • The Ragtag message board also has several different feeds available for following forum threads.
Firefox users can click the RSS icon (rssIcon or rssIcon) in the title bar to quickly add feeds.

Gadgets and Widgets

"Gadgets" and "Widgets" refer to mini-programs or pages that sit on your computer's desktop or on your google home page. You can use these to have Ragtag showtimes always on hand.

  • If you use Google Desktop with sidebar gadgets, download and install Ragtag's Google Desktop Gadget. This Gadget shows titles of daily films and events, which can be clicked for descriptions. It works on both Mac and Windows versions of Google Desktop. Mac Safari users may need to right-click on the link above and select "Saved linked file to the desktop", then double-click the file.
  • Ragtag's Mac OS X (Leopard) web clip widget for the Mac Dashboard works with the newest version of the Mac operating system (Leopard) and Safari 3.0. Click the Web Clip button in Safari and select what you want your new widget to display. Web Clip widgets appear on the Dashboard along with your other widgets and update as their source pages update. Sorry, it won't work in earlier versions of Safari or OS X!
  • If you use iGoogle, you can add the Today at Ragtag Google Gadget to your iGoogle home page. Log in to your google account, then follow this link and click the "Add it now" button. With the Gadget in place, click the plus sign to "expand" & read a film/event's description, or click its title to jump to the full details on the Ragtag site.
  • Developers — The Today at Ragtag Google Gadget can also be embedded in any web page. (See the example, above right.) Visit this link, click the "Add to your webpage" button, customize the appearance and settings, then click the "Get the Code" button and past the resulting code into your page(s).

Other Data Sources

  • Daily showtimes for mobile devices — This is a "thin" WML page listing daily Ragtag showtimes, intended for mobile device/smartphone users who are on a pay-by-the KB plan and need to limit their wireless data transfers. Transfer size is typically less than 1 KB.
  • Raw XML feed — If you're a developer, syndicator, or media outlet and need an XML feed of daily Ragtag showtimes, there's one at http://www.ragtagfilm.com/feeds/todayXML.php. Note that this does NOT use the RSS schema — it's a custom schema, details upon request.
