Micmacs
Opens Aug 13, 2010
A hapless video store employee's life takes a strange, twisted nosedive after he's accidentally shot in the forehead. Alive but penniless, Bazil (Dany Boon) turns to a ragtag group of misfits who create bizarre, magical inventions out of discarded junk. Bazil's ultimate goal? To get revenge on the arms manufacturers responsible not only for the bullet lodged in his head but also for the landmine that killed his father. Recalling the imaginative works of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, Micmacs--slang for 'shenanigans'--marks the triumphant return of French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the visionary behind Amélie. "Micmacs is ultimately shaped by Jeunet's unique creative vision -- a fun house of mirrors that is lovely to get lost in." (Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times)
