Ragtag exists because of you! Our ability to present a diverse calendar of events, film series, and new release films each month is possible only because of the support of our community, through membership, sponsorship, and our capital campaign.

Ragtag is looking for sponsors to support our films, series, and events. We will work with sponsors to create a unique package designed to meet a company's specific goals. Sponsorship amenities can include a discount ticket program for your employees, 20 complimentary cinema passes, acknowledgement and thank you before screenings, your name or logo on calendar and all collaterals, logo on our website, naming rights to an event or series, and a private event at Ragtag for your employees, executives, or clients.

  • 16,700 website visits per month, topping more than 200,000 unique visitors annually
  • 3,000 program calendars printed and distributed monthly
  • 1,000 program calendars directly mailed to Ragtag members, supporters, and press
  • 1,000 program calendars distributed throughout Columbia to college campuses, restaurants, bars, retail locations, and other sponsors
  • 1,000 program calendars picked up at the box office over the course of a month

Accomplishments in 2008

  • Completed construction of our new theater space in the historic Coca-Cola bottling plant at 10 Hitt Street, with two screens, 200 seats, surround sound, 35mm and vastly improved digital projection, a true box office, and ample waiting areas and restrooms.
  • Hosted our grand opening on April 27, 2008 with more than 350 guests.
  • Screened 185 first-run films and hosted more than 55,000 patrons.
  • Presented 58 special events and collaborated with community organizations to host multimedia events that educate, entertain, and inspire!
  • Extended our arts programming and presented five repertory film series, hosted four live theater events, 13 live music events, 11 visiting filmmakers, six local filmmakers, and three artists.

The Passport Series is an annual ten-film series of new world cinema, presented with "tour guides" who contextualize each film with introductions and post-film discussions.

The Silent Film Series has featured a survey of the cinema of Weimar Germany, the Silent Film Brunch, and a selection of early avant-garde films with live music accompaniment by The Free Collective.

Ragtag 101 exhibits essential classics on a monthly basis, is a casual and fun monthly film course focused on essential classics. Films are selected and introduced by Nancy West, professor of English and Film Studies at the University of Missouri, and silent cinema scholar Lokke Heiss.

The Critics Series invites internationally recognized film critics to present undervalued masterpieces. Past guests include Ray Pride (Newcity Chicago) and Jonathan Rosenbaum (Discovering Orson Welles).

Our Documentary Series showcases programs of creative and thought-provoking non-fiction films organized around timely themes such as environmental sustainability and Latin American immigration.

Our Director Series celebrates the opuses of cinema's finest auteurs.
